Description
The dresses were created in collaboration with an ethnographer from the Honchar Museum, and all the ornaments have their own history.
The “Kohana” dress is a maxi dress with embroidery. It has button closures and a removable belt.
The ornament, called the “Tree of Life,” is done in the chain stitch technique, one of the oldest techniques. This ornament is typical for central Ukraine, especially the Poltava region.
The symbolism of the ornament represents the continuation of the family line. Tassels and fringes are dynamic elements that fill the space and serve as protective elements. In ancient times, wide sleeves were only found in men’s festive shirts.
